Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 72,708 and the turnout stood at 78.38%, in real numbers- 56,988 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 80,208 electors, 82.88% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-66,479 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Jawahar Thakur gained a vote share of 47.22% and defeated INC’s Kaul Singh whose vote share stood at 37.38%. The other prominent candidates in the fray were BSP’s Ramesh Kumar with 0.77% and an independent candidate Puran Chand with 11.54% vote share.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 28,325 votes and 24,851 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 26,093 votes in 2012 and 31,392 votes in 2017. dominated the district of Mandi in 2017 by winning 9 seats. 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
