Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 60,828 and the turnout stood at 75.83%, in real numbers- 46,123 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 66,669 electors, 75.75% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-50,500 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Asha Kumari gained a vote share of 47.97% and defeated BJP’s D. S. Thakur whose vote share stood at 46.87%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was CPI’s Dhian Singh with 1.43% vote share. 1.13% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 25,541 votes and 24,224 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 18,176 votes in 2012 and 23,668 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Chamba in 2017 by winning 4 seats. INC managed to win 1 seat in the district.
