Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 61,120 and the turnout stood at 79.42%, in real numbers- 48,544 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 68,623 electors, 78.70% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-54,005 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Hans Raj gained a vote share of 52.39% and defeated INC’s Surender Bhardwaj whose vote share stood at 43.23%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was SP’s Nand Kumar with 0.82% vote share. 0.94% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 24,978 votes and 28,293 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 22,767 votes in 2012 and 23,349 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Chamba in 2017 by winning 4 seats. INC managed to win 1 seat in the district.
