Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 3,04,425 and the turnout stood at 62.91%, in real numbers- 1,91,519 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 4,16,953 electors, 61.54% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-2,56,605 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Patel Zankhana gained a vote share of 67.76% and defeated INC’s Patel Yogesh whose vote share stood at 24.58%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Ajay Chaudhari with 3.78 % vote share. 1.11 % votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 1,19,917 votes which increased to 1,71,882 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 52,279 votes in 2012 and 63,063 votes in the 2017 elections. BJP gained 15 seats and INC scored the remaining 1 seat in the district of Surat.
