During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 65,811 and the turnout stood at 75.55%, in real numbers- 49,721 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 73,147 electors, 56,783 voters exercised their constitutional rights.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Balbir Singh Verma gained a vote share of 52.02% and defeated INC’s Dr. Subhash Chand Manglate whose vote share stood at 43.94%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was BSP’s Hari Chand with 0.88% vote share. 0.80% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 21,409 votes and 24,950 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 4,747 votes in 2012 and 29.537 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Shimla in 2017 by winning 4 seats. BJP and CPI(M) scored 3 seats and 1 seat respectively.
