Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 71,244 and the turnout stood at 68.71%, in real numbers- 48,949 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 77,979 electors, 74.92% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-58,422 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Balbir Singh gained a vote share of 55.61% and defeated INC’s Kuldip Kumar whose vote share stood at 40.92%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was BSP’s Ranjit Singh with 1.06% vote share. 0.91% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 23,720 votes and 23,909 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 23,282 votes in 2012 and 32,488 votes in 2017. BSP received 621 votes in the 2017 elections. BJP dominated the district of Una in 2017 by winning 3 seats. INC managed to win 2 seats in the district.
