Voter Turnout
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 187570 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout that stood at 67.91%, in real numbers- 127373 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 209171 electors, 63.34% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-132491 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Usha Devi gained a vote share of 55.40% and defeated BJP’s Manoranjan Dyan Samantara whose vote share stood at 39.80%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Subas Raut with 2.80% of vote share and APOI’s Pramodini Sahoo with 0.60% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD’s won the constituency and earned 74849 votes and 73353 votes in 2019. On the other hand, INC garnered 42701 votes in 2014 and 3747 votes in 2019 while BJP received 4590 votes in 2014 and 52718 votes in 2019. APOI got 803 votes in the 2019 elections. BJD dominated the district of Ganjam in 2019 by winning 12 seats. The remaining 1 seat was secured by INC.
