Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 75,322 and the turnout stood at 63.22%, in real numbers- 47,619 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 80,160 electors, 67.20% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, it was a reasonable jump-53,869 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Mulkh Raj gained a vote share of 59.59% and defeated INC’s Kishori Lal whose vote share stood at 36.07%. The remaining candidates in the fray were Ramesh Chand with 0.95% vote share. 1.07% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 21878 votes and 19433 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 15226 votes in 2012 and 32102 votes in 2017. BSP received 510 votes in the 2017 elections. BJP dominated the district of Kangra in 2017 by winning 11 seats. INC managed to win 3 seats whereas 1 seats went to IND.
