Voter Turnout

During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 242244 and the constituency recorded a polling of 68.59%, in real numbers- 166152 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 262342 electors, 65.52% of voters chose to cast their vote. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-171884 voters.
Representation and Results

2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Pratap Keshari Deb gained a vote share of 57.80% and defeated INC’s Devendra Sharma whose vote share stood at 25.50%. The remaining candidates in the fray were BJP’s Dolagobinda Nayak with 15.40% of vote share and independent candidate Satyajit swain with 0.40% vote share.

In 2014, INC won the constituency and earned 81254 votes that decreased to 43825 votes in 2019 and the party suffered the defeat. On the other hand, BJD garnered 77751 votes in 2014 and 99426 votes to win in 2019. BJP got 3914 votes in 2014 and 26393 votes in 2019. Overall, BJD dominated the district of Kendrapara in 2019 by winning all 5 seats.
