Assembly Constituency Watch: Amreli

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 2,48,461 and the turnout stood at 68.48%, in real numbers- 1,70,143 voters. Voter engagement improved by 2017 elections, which witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 2,68,067 electors, 64.19% of voters exercised their constitutional rights which convert to 1,72,071 voters.    

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Paresh Dhanani gained a vote share of 50.58% and defeated BJP’s Bhavkubhai Undhad whose vote share stood at 43.59%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Shukla Bhargavkumar with 0.86% vote share- far lower than 1.67% votes under NOTA.  

In 2012, INC earned 86,583 votes which increased to 87,032 votes in 2017. BJP received 56,690 votes in 2012 and 75003 votes in 2017.   

In the district of Amreli, INC emerged dominant by winning all 5 seats.
