Assembly Constituency Watch: Ankleshwar

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 1,89,552 and the turnout stood at 75.62%, in real numbers- 1,43,338 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 2,21,057 electors, 71.40% of voters exercised their constitutional rights which convert to 1,57,826 voters.   

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Ishwarsinh Patel gained a vote share of 62.76% and defeated INC’s Anilkumar Bhagat whose vote share stood at 33.04%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Shaikh Kaluahemad with 0.77% vote share. 1.73% votes were under NOTA. 

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 82,645 votes which increased to 99,050 votes in 2017. INC garnered 51,202 votes in 2012 and 52,138 votes in 2017. In the district of Bharuch, BJP emerged dominant by winning 3 seats with 60% votes, BTP won a single seat with 20% votes and INC secured 1 seat with 20% vote .
