Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 68,283 and the turnout stood at 74.72%, in real numbers- 51,022 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 75,289 electors, 73.39% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-55,258 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Pawan Nayyar gained a vote share of 48.43% and defeated INC’s Neeraj Nayar whose vote share stood at 45.03%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was an independent candidate Dr. D. K Soni with 1.31% vote share. 1.22% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 19,714 votes and 26,763 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 17,780 votes in 2012 and 24,884 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Chamba in 2017 by winning 4 seats. INC emerged winner in the remaining 1 seat.
