Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 75,582 and the turnout stood at 67.53%, in real numbers- 51,040 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 80,717 electors, 72.14% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-58,226 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Inder Dutt Lakhanpal gained a vote share of 44.10% and defeated BJP’s Baldev Sharma whose vote share stood at 43.35%. The remaining candidate in the fray was an independent candidate Sita Ram Bhardwaj with an 8.90% vote share. 0.80% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 26,041 votes and 25,679 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 23,383 votes in 2012 and 25,240 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Hamirpur in 2017 by winning 3 seats. BJP emerged winner in 2 seats in the district.
