Location  

Patna assembly constituency is located in Kendujhar district and consists of:  

Patna block, Saharpada block, 10 GPs (Asanpat, Khuntapada, Badadumuria, Badaneuli, Baria, Dhanurjayapur, Gundunia, Tukudiha, Ukhunda and Chauthia GPs of Jhumpura block and 6 GPs of (Jajaposi, Jally, Sadangi, Jyotipur, Bhuinpur and Parsala) of Champua block.[3][4] As of 2019 it had a total of 1,96,060 voters out of which 99,293 were male and 96,767 were female.

During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 183466 and the turnout stood at 81.22%, in real numbers- 149015 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 204457 electors, 77.84% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-159140 voters.

2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Jagannath Naik gained a vote share of 44.20% and defeated BJP’s Bhabani Sankar Nayak whose vote share stood at 39.30%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Binod Bihari Naik with 8.20% of vote share and independent candidate Akhila Chandra Naik with 5.10% vote share.

District-Wise Electoral Results

In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 44584 votes and 70310 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJP garnered 35741 votes in 2014 and 62514 votes in 2019 while INC received 20238 votes in 2014 and 13058 votes in 2019. BJD dominated the district of Kendujhar in 2019 by winning 5 seats. The remaining 1 seat was won by BJP.
