Voter Turnout
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 168963 and the turnout stood at 68.56%, in real numbers- 115845 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 189786 electors, 66.99% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-127141 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Ramesh Chandra gained a vote share of 59% and defeated BJP’s Purna Chandra whose vote share stood at 31.20%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s candidate Prashanta Kumar Naik with 6.30% of vote share and BSP’s candidate Debaraj Naik with 1.60% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 75832 votes and 75006 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJP garnered 16053 votes in 2014 and 39715 votes in 2019 while INC received 18505 votes in 2014 and 7949 votes in 2019. BJD dominated the district of Nayagarh in 2019 by winning all 4 seats.
