Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 190809 and the turnout stood at 71.32%, in real numbers- 136079 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 201331 electors, 67.32% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it means 135532 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Arvind Shantilal Rana gained a vote share of 53.59% and defeated INC’s Bharucha Nitinkumar Thakordas whose vote share stood at 43.75%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Kapdiya Mohammad Salman Mohammad Irfan with 0.34% vote share. 0.86% of votes were under NOTA.
Voting History -2012 & 2017
In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 72649 votes and 72638 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 56860 votes in 2012 and 59291 votes in 2017. BSP got 458 votes in 2017 elections. BJP dominated the district of Surat in 2017 by winning 15 seats. INC scored the remaining 1 seat.
