During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 209073 and the turnout stood at 77.42%, in real numbers- 161860 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 238205 electors, 71.47% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-170256 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Thakor Chandanjii Talaji gained a vote share of 51.84 % and defeated BJP’s Jaynarayan Vyas whose vote share stood at 41.71%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Rajput Rajendrasinh Samantsinh with 1.12% vote share. 2.33% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 87518 votes that increased to 88268 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 61694 votes in 2012 and 71008 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Patan in 2017 by winning 3 seats. The remaining 1 seat went to BJP.
