During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 220253 and the turnout stood at 68.74%, in real numbers- 151408 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 259055 electors, 69.01% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-178784 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner,INC’s Alpesh Khodaji Thakor gained a vote share of 47.98% and defeated BJP’s Solanki Lavingji Muljiji Thakor whose vote share stood at 39.67%. The remaining candidates in the fray were two independent candidates Ratilal Kamabhai with 2.86% and Dr.Vishnu Zula with 2.67% of vote share respectively.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 69493 votes that increased to 70920 votes in 2017 but party failed to regain the seat. On the other hand, INC garnered 65659 votes in 2012 and 85777 votes to win in 2017. INC dominated the district of Patan in 2017 by winning 3 seats. The remaining 1 seat was won by BJP.
