During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 212580 and the turnout stood at 68.69%, in real numbers- 146019 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 237908 electors, 65.16% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-155009 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Babubhai Bhimabhai Bokhiriya gained a vote share of 46.73% and defeated INC’s Arjunbhai Devabhai Modhvadiya whose vote share stood at 45.53%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Aanandbhai Hajabhai Maru with 2.80% vote share. 2.21% of votes were under NOTA.

District-Wise Electoral Results

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 77604 votes that saw a decrease in its share to 72430 votes in 2017 but nevertheless party was successful in retaining the seat. On the other hand, INC garnered 60458 votes in 2012 and 70575 votes in 2017. BSP got 2099 votes and 4337 votes in 2012 and 2017 respectively. BJP and NCP were successful in winning 1 seat each in the district of Porbandar in 2017 elections.
