Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 230992, and the turnout stood at 68.33%, in real numbers- 157837 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 264794 electors, 60.68% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-160686 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Ahir Vikrambhai Arjanbhai Madam gained a vote share of 49.65% and defeated BJP’s Kalubhai Naranbhai Chavda whose vote share stood at 42.77%. The remaining candidates in the fray were independent candidates Nagash Karshanbhai Jeshabhai with 1.56% and Parmar Girishbhai Muljibhai with 0.89% vote share.
Voting History -2012 & 2017
In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 79087 votes that decreased to 68733 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 40705 votes in 2012 and increased its count significantly to 79779 votes to win in 2017. Both BJP and INC won 1 seat each in the district of Dev Bhoomi Dwarka in 2017.
