During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 187273 and the turnout stood at 76.44%, in real numbers- 143158 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 224175 electors, 74.00% of voters chose to cast their vote. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-165895 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner,INC’s Baldevji Chanduji Thakor gained a vote share of 49.96% and defeated  BJP’s Dr. Atulbhai K. Patel whose vote share stood at 45.16%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Mahendrasheel Somabhai Upasak with 0.71% Vote share. 1.52% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 64757 votes that increased to 82886 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 64414 votes in 2012 and 74921 votes in 2017. BSP got 1183 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Jamnagar in 2017 by winning 3 seats. BJP scored 2 seats.
