Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 182733 and the turnout stood at 66.76%, in real numbers- 122001 voters. 2017 witnessed a slight decrease in turnout; out of the 218785 electors, 66.19% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-144822 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Jadeja Dharmendrasinh Merubha gained a vote share of 58.23% and defeated INC’s Ahir Jivanbhai Karubhai Kumbharvadiya whose vote share stood at 29.94%. The remaining candidate in the fray were BSP’s Gotam Alabhai Vaghela with 1.35% and independent candidate Gujaratisurya Kamleshbhai Laxmanbhai with 2.79% Vote share.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 61642 votes that decreased to 43364 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 52194 votes in 2012 and 84327 votes to claim victory in 2017 elections. INC dominated the district of Jamnagar in 2017 by winning 3 seats. BJP emerged winner in 2 seats.
