Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 180661 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 75.30%, in real numbers- 136031 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 205251 electors, 66.47% of voters chose to cast their vote. In real numbers it amounts to 136432 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Kalariya Chiragbhai Rameshbhai gained a vote share of 47.07% and defeated BJP’s Chimanbhai Dharamshibhai Sapariya whose vote share stood at 45.22%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Hamirani Salimbhai Hushenbhai with 0.99% Vote share. 2.36% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 75395 votes that decreased to 61694 votes in 2017 and a consequent defeat. On the other hand, INC garnered 47204 votes in 2012 and 64212 votes to win the 2017 elections. INC emerged as the leading party in district of Jamnagar in 2017 by winning 3 seats. BJP gained 2 seats.
