During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 2,00,359 and the turnout stood at 71.80%, in real numbers- 1,43,854 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 2,30,619 electors, 66.94% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-1,54,387 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Makwana Rutvikbhai gained a vote share of 51.79% and defeated BJP’s Dervaliya Zinabhai whose vote share stood at 36.32%. The remaining candidates in the fray were independent candidate Dethaliya Vershibhai with 2.46 % vote share and BSP’ Khorani Ajitbhai with 1.73%.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 72,111 votes which decreased to 56,073 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 60,139 votes in 2012 and 79,960 votes to win the 2017 elections, while BSP gained 2668 votes in 2017. INC gained 4 seats and BJP scored the remaining 1 seat in the district of Surendranagar.
